These
Terms of Residential Placement
apply to ALL clients.
In order for us to assist you in you=
r recovery,
and for a safe and healthy environment to be maintained for everyone, we
request a commitment from you to the following:
&=
uuml; Light in the Window has a 0 tolerance policy on using or pos=
sessing
any alcohol and/or illegal drugs or misuse of prescription or over-the-coun=
ter
drugs. A violation of this policy will result in immediate discharge.
&=
uuml; Light in the Window has a 0 tolerance policy on violen=
ce.
This includes mental, emotional, sexual or physical violence, intimidation =
or
threats (direct or indirect). A violation of this policy will result in
immediate discharge.
&=
uuml; Light in the Window does not tolerate
aggressive behaviour, swearing, name-calling, demeaning jokes or comments,
gossiping, or aggressive non-verbal behaviour (such as glaring, gestures,
slamming doors, etc.).
&=
uuml; No weapons are permitted at Light in=
the
Window has. This includes kni=
ves,
switchblades, sharps or any other object deemed potentially dangerous by st=
aff.
ü
Active
participation in group programming is mandatory. Active participation is
contributing appropriately to group discussions and exercises, providing
helpful feedback to group members, coming to groups on time with a willing
attitude and an open mind, and using respectful language. It is required th=
at
you share topic-related thoughts and feelings with the group, and allow oth=
ers
a chance to share their thoughts and feelings.
&=
uuml; Clients are not to enter the bars or establishments license und=
er the
Liquor Licensing Act. Clients are not to be in any location where drugs are
being used or sold. Should a client need to be in a location where alcohol =
is
being served, they must first discuss this with their counselor.
ü
Unsuitable
discussions are not allowed while you are a client of Light in the Window.
These discussions re-create old, unhealthy using environments, can trigger
others, may be viewed as aggressive and intimidating by peers. Unsuitable
discussions are defined as talking about using, selling, buying or abusing =
alcohol
and drugs, committing crimes, being incarcerated, how to manipulate situati=
ons,
making sexual comments, gestures or innuendoes, and criticizing or making
negative comments about others. Clients are welcome to discuss any of the a=
bove
with their counselor.
&=
uuml; Intimate relationships, sexual
relationships and dating between clients is not permitted. Light in the
Window intends to create a he=
althy
environment for those in early recovery, and to assist clients in maintaini=
ng a
focus on recovery. As well, such relationships can cause discomfort for oth=
er
clients and take the client’s focus off of recovery.
&=
uuml; Inappropriate attire is not allowed =
such
as clothes/hats with alcohol or drug related logos, jokes, or pictures, sex=
ual
connotations or swears. Material that is violent, pornographic or disrespec=
tful
is not permitted. This includes videos, movies, magazines, posters, etc. =
span>
&=
uuml; No products containing alcohol are
permitted. This includes mouthwash, aftershave, hairspray, cough syrup, nail
polish remover, etc.
&= uuml; From Sunday to Saturday, the lights = out policy will be at 11:00pm. All clients are expected to be in their rooms at this time.<= o:p>
&=
uuml; It is the responsibility of all clie=
nts
to inform staff of any prescription and non-prescription medication they ha=
ve
in their possession. Medications will be placed in a secured cabinet and mu=
st
be in their original container.
ü
Clients
are required to attend all meetings as presented on a daily schedule and a<=
span
style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> 28 Day calendar.

We are a non-smoking facility.
There is no smoking in any of
buildings.

uuml; All clients are to be on time for
meals.
&=
uuml; Light in the Window will dispose of any personal prope=
rty
that is left behind 15 days from the discharge date. Medication that is left
behind will be disposed of within 48 hours of discharge.

All staff and clients are expected to assist in ensuring that Light in the
Window is a safe environment.=
If
you are aware of anyone violating these Terms of Residency, you are to repo=
rt
it to a staff member. All such reports are anonymous.
ü Telephone calls are limited to Thurs=
day
evenings between 8:00pm ̵=
1;
10:00pm. Upon arrival the client will be permitted to make a safe arrival c=
all
to his family. Phone calls ar=
e NOT permitted during the first we=
ek of
admission. Each client is permitted one (1) outgoing - 10 minute call and a schedule will=
be
allotted for each clients call. Outgoing calls will ONLY be permitted upon approval of the Treatment Co-Ordinator
.Incoming calls are monitored and ONLY emergency calls will be forwarded to=
the
client. Nusance callers=
will
be blocked from accessing our number. Incoming calls that are deemed as
threatening will be reported immediately to the proper authorities.
